It’s been a big month for celebrating!

The April issue of ELLE, South Africa’s leading fashion publication, toasts their 14^th birthday with an exclusive cover and interview with international supermodel Alek Wek. Shot in South Africa by world renowned and controversial Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani.

Wek, styled in signature pieces from top local designers, combined with a Woolworths basics t-shirt, embellished with a sequined heart, created especially for the ELLE shoot by Christopher Strong designer Olive du Plessis, effortlessly mixes high street fashion with designer labels.

“This outfit makes a strong statement for style democracy and Wek’s vibrant smile captures the optimism and high spirits that ELLE magazine epitomises going forward into its second seven-year South African cycle,” says ELLE editor Jackie Burger.

The not to be missed fourteenth birthday collector’s issue is on streets nationwide from the 18 March. A limited edition of the embellished t-shirt worn by Wek on the cover is available at selected Woolworth’s stores from 24 March. I think I may be first in line.
