Sleek:
If you are a fan of the sleek straight look, you have to try a Global Keratin treatment, AKA the Brazilian Blow Wave. I was treated to a treatment at The One and Only with Sheleen of Tanaz Hair Body & Nails.
The key ingredient of this treatment is Keratin which is naturally found in hair and nails. The keratin restores the hair bringing back it’s natural shine and eliminates any fizz in the hair, creating a smooth texture. Blow drying and or straightening time is dramatically cut down.
The treatment can be done on any hair type and works best on chemically treated hair. The Keratin formula (that feels like conditioner) is applied to the hair and blow dried dry. The hair is then straighted with a straightening iron which traps in the moisture and creates a glossy, straight finish. The treatment lasts for 3-5 months and should be maintained with a Sodium Chloride – Free Shampoo. This process takes 1.5 – 3 hours depending on the length of your hair.
Warning: Don’t get this treatment done a day or so before a big event. You may not wash hair, tie it up, sweat, swim or wear any hair bands for 2-3 days after the treatment. I wasn’t a fan of this part, as I wash my hair every day, but washing it on day 3 was the ultimate joy. Hair feels soft and silky. My hair was definitely straighter and I didn’t feel the need to use my flat iron after a quick blow dry. My hair is feeling strong and healthy and I would definitely try it again. No time for the salon, try L’Oreal Elvive Nourishing Shampoo with Royal Jellyif you suffer from dry, lack-luster hair. Honey being naturally heeling nourishes and regenerates the hair, perfect for a sleek and shiny look.
Volume/lift/waves:
What ever you do with your hair this season, hair is big and has loads of volume.
TRESemme has just launched the 24 Hour Body Collection giving your hair body and lift all day long. No more flat hair days! I was lucky enough to be invited to their launch and watched how models demonstrated on themselves. I was most impressed! And what’s even more impressive, is that none of these salon quality products are over R70 each.
1.) Start of by using TRESemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo and 24 Hour Conditioner. Both products contain Collagen, Silk proteins and the new formulated Volume Control Complex to help build all-day long lift, allowing hair to move freely but still preventing any fallouts from humidity.
2.) After town drying hair, apply a small amount of Amplifying mouse into the palm of your hand and work it through the hair. The mouse adds body and bounce to the hair – also controlling any frizz.
3.) Next Spray the 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray at the roots to create lift at the roots. Using any brush, blow dry hair in sections lifting the hair (almost over exaggerate this) from at the routes. The 24 Hour Root Boosting Spray is great even if you want to wear your hair sleek as it just gives the routes a lift avoiding over flat hair. (we’ve outgrown the grungy, pasted to the face, flat haired teenager by now)
4.) Lastly, spray the hair with 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray for all day body and volume. Hair is left looking natural and not ‘made up’.
TIPS:
* Don’t over condition hair. Only condition when and where needed, usually the ends of your hair. Over conditioned hair creates product building up leaving hair looking flat and un-style-able.
* Tip your head over and dry hair with a large diffuser at the end of your hair dryer for extra volume and lift.
