BEAUTY FEATURE FRIDAY: Q&A’S WITH SYLVIE HURFORD

I love having make-up artist friends. They always have the best tips, secrets and stories… I’ll be featuring a few of my beauty buddies over the next few weeks, so aspiring beauty junkies, watch this space!

1.) Pick one! Lipstick, Mascara or blusher? Why?

aaaaargh that is so unfair! ok blusher, no lipstick, no mascara – ok blusher – helps enormously under any circumstances!

2.) Any make up trends for summer we should know of?

3.) What does your typical day consist of?

According to my boyfriend, chatting to my friends and playing with lipstick, according to my children, going to Johannesburg while alternatively running a 24 hour service 5 star hotel for them!

Usually a combination of all those things, plus endless time on my BB and laptop organising shoots and answering questions, sneaking off to do yoga and drink coffee, and shooting in studio or on location for L’Oreal or any of  my wonderful local or international clients

4.) Listening to?

3 mixed cd’s my American friend Minesh made for me before he left – Music to cry to, Music to be happy to, and Music for a sunny day! too many artists to list.

5.) Favourite designers

a.) Local Thula Sindi, Malcolm Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel du Toit and Democratic Republic – I lust after his clothes. I also adore I Love Leroy
b.) International Xuly Bet, Georges Chakra, Marchesa

6.) Favourite girlie drink

Champagne of course

7.) What’s in your handbag?

Oh dear.. lets see

BlackBerry in a pink case! Red Moleskine diary, ipod headphones, no ipod, Boarding pass stub, 1 barbie shoe, fluffy vida chocolate, pricelist for the Spa at Steenberg, about 17 L’Oreal Glam shine glosses, my gorgeous, falling apart lizard skin wallet,  some fluff and …. my car keys!

8.) How many pairs of shoes do you have?

Too many of course, but I do buy in multiples! What I don’t have is a pair of black patent Louboutin Pigalle, but I visit them regularly

9.) Favourite fragrance

Il Baccio by Borghese – I buy it online and then pay about double its’ value in duties! worth every penny

10.) Painted any celeb faces?

I never kiss and tell! ok well yes, many – from the gorgeous Terry Pheto ( my L’Oreal Brand Wife), Rachel Roberts, Sessilee Lopez, all the Miss SA’s, Jeannie D, Minki Van Der Westhuisen, and a whole bunch who are now Guess girls, countless Woolworth’s campaign ‘faces’ and um … too many to count. Each more gorgeous than the next
