I couldn’t make the launch of Mari and Me, and so Alex, my ear to the ground, caught up with what went down that eve.
Mari and Me has set up base in Kloof Road, Sea Point. Perfectly situated to close off the road, put up a tent, and thrown a fabulous bash! The style of the launch was a black, white, silver vintage feeling which contrasted beautifully with the modern, simple and stylish lines of the clothing designs.
The line concentrated on following key trends on the style pages at present but adapting the pieces to be more every day wearable. The urban chic look was there complete with studs and military style buttons, and of course stripes were used in a playful nautical range. The nautical range was set to a backdrop of Coco Chanel movie clips (how fitting!).
I have to say my favourites were the gorgeous LBDs…
The most impressive execution of trend were the divine little white tea dresses. They had a slight vintage feel ala 1950’s, but reinvented for modern times with quirky additions like one shouldered designs, daring lengths and great geometric pleats. Definitely a launch well done!
