CELEBRATE MANDELA DAY WITH “EVERY GIRL’S A PRINCESS” PROJECT

In celebration of Youth Day and Mandela Day, CODE TEEN in association with Cavendish Square, Ava Secrets and Club X Magazine presents “Every Girl’s a Princess” – a 30 day teen girls self-esteem and empowerment initiative for disadvantaged and abused girls in South Africa.

The project launched on Youth Day with a Self Empowerment workshop for 20 disadvantaged and abused girls from WHEATT (Woman’s Hope Education and Training Trust), who were taken on a powerful transformational journey inspiring the belief that anything and everything is possible.  The girls were indulged with goody bags from Club X, Cavendish Square and Ava Secrets, and then finally given a makeover and professional “cover girl” shoot.

The next phase of the project will take place at 11.45 for 12 noon sharp on Mandela Day  – Saturday 16 July – at Cavendish Square.

Says Karen Burt from CODE TEEN, “We’re aiming to get together at least 1000 teen girls to unite for 67 minutes against RAPE and ABUSE and FOR being treated like Princesses!  We’re asking ALL  teen girls to join us leading up to  Mandela Day and dress up like the princesses they are – heels are essential and a tiara or feather boa will finish off the look.  We also ask the girls to bring along an extra pair of shoes on the day – either new or good condition second hand, that can be donated to the Princess Slipper Project, which ensures that disadvantaged and abused girls in homes and Safehouses will always have “Cinderella shoes” to take them where they deserve to be!”

Said Madrie Verwey – Marketing Manager for Cavendish Square, “We’re very excited to be part of this very important and empowering project and are overwhelmed with the support received so far from local media personalities and celebrities, who, I am told, will be out in full force at Cavendish Square on Mandela Day.  We’re asking everyone to help us spread the word and mark the date on your calendar, to make sure we reach the 1000 girl mark.”

Added Karen Burt from Code Teen, “We are absolutely thrilled with the generous donations this project has received from our incredible sponsors, and the girls can expect loads of fabulous prizes and giveaways, plus they can have a bit of fun, get a mini makeover and dress up with wacky accessories to pose for pictures with friends at our photo booth.”.

Prizes and giveaway to the girls who sign the wall include bracelets and magazines from Club X for the first 1000 girls, simcards and air time for the first 1000 girls from Cell C, Sass Diva accessory hampers, Hoity Toity Hampers, Ava Secrets Princess Parties and 1000 Ava Tampon Tins and product for the 1st 1000 girls , Cell phones from Cell C, Shopping spree vouchers from Club X and Sissy Boy – Ponds Beauty hampers  and much more!
