So last time on Kim Gray Travel I featured the amazing decor and rooms at Babylonstoren. If you missed it, read here. In Part 2 I will feature our walk down from our room to EAT! And did we eat!
The grounds are simply beautiful with an amazingly inspiring garden filled with edible flowers and vegetables.
Loved this little feature as you entered the restaurant area. Babel restaurant is where you’ll enjoy your inclusive breakfast and will be able to enjoy dinner or lunch, bursting with vibrant colours and textures.
Once again the decor is something out of a glossy interior magazine. Just exquisite!
All the food comes from the garden on the property and foods like meat and fish are sourced locally.
Our dinner began with a petal salad and butternut bread with a herb oil. Out of this world! We had to ask for more bread. Too delicious. I had the Franschhoek Trout with strawberries that was incredible. The food was hearty ( roast potatoes, stuffed aubergine and green beans in a granadilla dressing accompanying), colourful and vibrant and there was a definite flavour that spoke of quality! Babylonstoren have also recently made their own wine which was delicious and will be selling it soon!
Thankfully I was diligent enough to go for a run in the morning round the farm, still feeling and dreaming about the food the night before, as we had the most amazing breakfast. The muesli, fruit and yoghurt was a work of art and simply delicious. And I couldn’t resist more bread as the butternut bread was toasted accompanied by their delectable farm butter. Oh my goodness! YUM! Babel is a culinary must!
