A few weekends ago I got to stay at Oude Werf Hotel in Stellenbosch, one of the oldest buildings in South Africa. They are running a Weekend Market Package which we did and had the best time.
The rooms are lovely and spacious and I loved the incredibly huge, comfy bed and the pristine, white, luxurious bathroom with touches of old world glamour and modern finishes. Breakfast was a treat each morning. The staff were just so lovely and friendly. Tuck into a buffet breakfast with anything off the breakfast menu.
Our first Market was the Friday Night Woodmill Market. Loved this furniture store there, full of interesting, unique finds. Enjoy live music, craft beer, delicious wines and eats. There is a fantastic kids play room where you can drop them off to be entertained so that you can kick back.Yeah!
The next morning we were off to the Stellenbosch Slow Food Market. There is an incredible line up of produce and treats to be found here! A definite breakfast or lunch destination, and bring a basket as you’ll want to stock up your pantry.
That afternoon (Not part of the Oude Werf Package!) we treated ourselves to a massage at Bakwena Spa at the Sante Hotel, Resort and Spa. We had a beautiful couples massage after an arrival drink. There are chill rooms to relax before or after your treatment with massage chairs, a spa menu to enjoy a healthy smoothie at your leisure and a large pool area with a unique indoor hydro-pool with multi-height body jets where families can relax together. Check out their comprehensive spa menu here and I love that they offer my absolute favourite facial, Qms Medicosmetics.
End your treatment with their three snail shaped multi-experience showers that offer a variety of different options: from tropical rain to mountain mist to enhance your unique experience.
That evening we indulged in a hearty dinner at Restaurant 1802 at Oude Werf. The dinner menu offers something for everyone and I was impressed at the pricing. Mmm and loved their famous cheesecake.
We ended off our stay with a visit to the Sunday Blaauwklippen Family Market. Again this market is great for kids with pony and go cart rides, lots of space, seating and fresh air! Again delicious treats, craft beer, delicious coffee and wines make it a lovely morning out.
We had such a lovely weekend all round exploring the streets of Stellenbosch, food sampling (you mean indulging!!), lying in thanks to that magnificent bed, chatting to friendly staff and browsing. The Weekend Market Package is such a great idea and comes recommended!
