The victorian garden

I’ve been trying a beautiful range of natural products made using original Victorian recipes from the 1800′s, The Victorian Garden available at Faithful To Nature. These products are packed with nutrients, essential oils, traditional herbs, flowers and African indigenous plants that have long been known for their therapeutic & medicinal properties and their antiseptic and healing powers.

Mmm I may have a new favourite shampoo and conditioner. Loving the Rosemary & Vanilla Shampoo and Olive & Vanilla Conditioner.

Says Victorian Garden:

“An unusual and efficient hair conditioner formulated to alleviate dry, split ends and restore hair manageability. An interesting blend of African botanicals such as Aloe Leaf Juice, Green Avocado and Wild Olive, this hair conditioner is scented with the gorgeous aroma of Madagascan Vanilla.”

Both the Shampoo and conditioner have a strong, beautiful vanilla fragrance and I love knowing that my scalp is absorbing only goodness and no harsh chemicals. Interstingly enough I experienced JUST what Victorian Garden mention:

“It is possible that some people can experience a ‘hair detox’ when first using organic Hair Shampoos. This is because those people have been using shampoo products containing silicone derivatives. For the first two or three washes, the hair may seem dryer and more tangled. However, if you follow your shampoo with one of natural/organic Hair Conditioner treatments, the problem will be lessened and your hair should settle down into good condition very quickly.”

My hair was feeling course and dry and I was a little worried at first! But it was only for the first few washes. My hair is now feeling soft and manageable, especially after the nourishing conditioner. I wash my hair every day, so I love that this shampoo is natural and gentle.

The Ruby Grapefruit and Rosemary soap free shower gel is invigorating and uplifting. Joy in a bottle. Absolutely loving their best seller Lemongrass and Bran Soap. It again has the most uplifting fragrance, moisturizing shea butter and no harsh chemicals or animal fats. I’d definitely stock up on a few bars!

So it might not come in the most glamorous tin or anything, but this beeswax based rose & applemint moisturizing lip balm is a winner. I do find that a lot of lip balms often leave your lips feeling drier. This lip balm is infused with a natural antibiotic, English Lavender, and Marigold and Geranium act as a protective barrier to soothe sore, dry and chapped lips. It feels really nourishing on my lips! And the best part, it’s R23 for 20ml that will last for ages.

Do take a look at the full range Victorian Garden has to offer here. Their selection is huge and I’m also enjoying their body scrubs and lotions that are nourishing, affordable, not tested on animals and all natural. Back to basics with a dash of luxury! Love it!
