October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While most of us are probably familiar with the disease, we may not necessarily be aware of the extent to which it affects women both globally and in South Africa. According to the World Cancer Research Fund, South Africa is ranked 50th on the list of countries with the highest cancer prevalence. Among women, the most predominant is breast cancer and statistics show that 1 in 29 South African women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This figure is even higher in urban communities in South Africa, where the incidence is as high as 1 in 8.
“While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Awareness is a cause close to the heart of Africology & more so a founding element which drives the Africology ethos. Therefore Africology would like you to help inform women of the disease and what to look out for in beauty and cosmetic products. It is important to read the product ingredient label and only use products that are clean, natural and compliments your biology,” explains Africology founder and CEO Renchia Droganis.
Mmm, I must say I’ve been bad at this, something to think about again.
At Africology, the key focus for this month is Anti-oxidants and the positive effects these have on free radicals that have been linked to cancer formation. The Africology Anti-oxidant serum and masque is filled with antiaging activities and contains a powerful anti-oxidant cocktail, designed to work in tandem, allowing for maximum results. Furthermore, during October, Africology will donate a portion of sales generated to the Breast Cancer Awareness foundation in a bid to further cancer research. For every Anti- Oxidant Serum or Masque purchased, Africology will donate R10.00.
I recently had German Measles, and my face got all hot and puffy and my skin has felt like leather eve since. I was really, really impressed by this mask (R375) , and how much softer my skin felt the next day!
Designed to combat ageing, this luxurious masque contains Vitamin A Palmitate for increased collagen production, improved texture and elasticity.DMAE and ubiquinone help to protect the skin membrane, keeping cells intact and preventing skin damage and ageing.
The Anti-Oxidant Masque is rich in Omega-6 fatty acids and borage seed oil, both containing GLA, an excellent emollient, anti-oxidant, and cell regulator, promoting healthy skin growth. It also helps reduces pigmentation as it reverses some of the signs of ageing.
It has a clay like texture, you’ll look like this! So warn your husband/boyfriend before walking out of the bathroom – or you could just say, Boo!
A patent Anti-Aging serum (R500), it contains vitamin A Palmitiate for increased collagen and DNA stimulation and improved texture and elasticity. DMAE helps protect the cell membrane keeping cells intact and preventing skin damage and ageing.Works wonders in treating thin, aging skin around the lips and eyes.
Ubiquinone plumps up fine lines and wrinkles and regenerates vitamin E production. Our Anti-Oxidant serum also contains evening primrose oil (rich in Omega 6 fatty acids) Recommended for: For a more youthful, radiant complexion. The best part is that Africololgy products contain no nasties, so often linked to cancer.
