Travel

And we’re off . . . what I packed

Here are some of my holiday essentials that will be coming with me to Morocco & Paris.

I’m very excited about my new coat from Desray. What feels like a tracksuit material – still looks super chic but is so comfy to travel in. It’s going to be perfect for the cold weather in Paris with my waterproof Hunter Millbank Sneakers. I’ve also packed my Desray Straw Hat and Leopard Print Scarf that will come handy when trekking on a camel! Eeek! My rubber O’ Clock watch is the perfect, durable travel watch as are my space-saving, fold up Ray-bans from Sunglass Hut. I’ll be doing a lot of walking and probably in be in sneakers most of the time, but evenings exploring fabulous restaurants and bars call for some pretty pumps from Cinnamon Shoes.

Two life savers when travelling are QMS Medicosmetics and La Mer. Flying can really dry out ones skin and so using your QMS Exfoliant Fluid will help rid dead/dry skin cells to reveal a fresher skin. Says QMS ” High quality fruit acids dissolve the intercellular glue between the dead skin cells and reveal a smoother and more youthful looking skin.” Your day and night collagen will pump up your moisture levels again, restoring your skin.

Obsessed with La Mer, The Mist – a miracle in a bottle to revive and refresh your skin! Says La Mer, “The highly charged waters in La Mer’s refreshing The Mist heal, hydrate and rebalance even the driest complexions. It creates a special negative ion-rich environment that instantly shifts skin’s energy level, visibly uplifting and reviving lethargic skin. A live internal magnet continually recharges the ingredients to maintain their optimum potency. Marine and botanical extracts soothe surface irritations and gently relax dry lines to restore skin’s appearance. Indispensable after exposure to sun, wind or other dehydrating conditions” It really is a travel must. I also love to sprits it over make-up before going out for a fresh, dewy finish.

In order not to get too hasstled in Morocco, one should really respect their culture. So, I’ve made sure to pack items that cover shoulders and knees. I’m loving these long and short sleeve tees from Old Khaki as they are SUPER light and soft and will be fab with my Desray Silk Harem Pants. Maxi- dresses like this one I got from Poetry are also useful with a light cardi or scarf over your shoulders.

Most importantly, everything is going into our brand new Samsonite Aeris Comfort Spinners made from recyclable, nature friendly and shock resistant polypropylene. We sure won’t miss our bags on the carousel 🙂 See more luggage at Ibags.co.za.

Klein welmoed

Last weekend we had the lovely opportunity of staying at Klein Welmoed in Stellenbosch. To be honest I actually tried to get out of it as I’ve got so much on my plate before going away etc, but boy was I glad when we arrived. A little oasis in what feels like the middle of nowhere.

There are 2 large beautiful guest cottages and guest rooms in the main house.

Loved that you could keep your bathroom private or open it up to the room. Mmm and a fire place in the room – how divine come winter.

Jack the resident farm dog paid us visit which felt really homely not to mention the very warm welcome we received with loads of information about the farm and surroundings.

Take a run or a stroll around the farm before a delicious home cooked breakfast.

Klein Welmoed has not been used as a wedding venue yet but they are looking into it next year, so girls if you’re looking for a spot that’s not done the rounds, this may be your special spot. The farm is so quiet and sipping a glass of wine in the afternoon sun next to olive groves and vineyards was pure bliss. I felt recharged and refreshed after our stay. Thanks to Klein Welmoed again for their warm and friendly atmosphere.

Oppi draai, paternoster

We had a glorious weekend this past weekend at Oppi Draai Paternoster.Sunset beach walks with the dogs, sundowners, braai’s, exploring, chilling and sleeping like a baby in that comfy bed!

We stayed in unit A which actually sleeps 6. It would be great fun to take friends along to this destinations. And if you’re a large group you could take over both units. Unit B definitely has the better views! The unit is spacious with an indoor and outdoor braai for entertaining.

View from the en-suit bedroom upstairs.

We loved that this accommodation is pet friendly. While there are no fences, there is an outdoor balcony and a lovely little contained beach to the left of the unit to run the dogs wild.

I spent A LOT of time on this couch 🙂 An amazingly large and comfy couch by the fire. Just what a lazy afternoon away requires.

The unit is self catering but there are some fabulous eateries in Paternoster.

Sun downers at Voorstrandt.

A must visit for a browse around the general dealer or for lunch, Oep ve Koep!
