High Tea

Our Stay At The Cellars Hohenort: Part 2

One thing that truly stood out from our stay at The Cellars Hohenort, was the decadence when it came to wining and dining! We happened to stay there over my husbands birthday and so we were surprised with birthday-bubbles and sweet treats over breakfast!

Happiness!

The salmon and avo omelette was hands down the best omelette I’ve had.I ended up ordering it 2 days in a row. Light, fluffy and creamy with the most beautiful salmon – no skimping on the filling either! The cuppa was incredibly delicious too.

A high-tea after my own heart! A Low Carb High-Tea which was delicious. From delicate, vietnamese, rice-paper rolls filled with prawns to muesli bars drizzled in dark chocolate (I could have eaten a whole tray of those!) and a light, moist carrot cake.

How darling are the little duck biscuits that come with your tea or coffee.

I’ve been dreaming of going back for this high tea again. How awesome to feast, guilt free! And then, there was more Salmon! How pretty is this plating, my starter at dinner! They are currently running a 2 or 3 course dinner special at their The Conservatory Restaurant.

Winter special: (Two course R225 / Three course R295)

Starters: sugar cured salmon trout, roasted balsamic baby beets, radishes, horseradish cream OR Ham hock terrine, red onion vinaigrette, mushroom brioche, Brussels sprouts

Mains: pan fried line fish, Asian pesto, roasted courgettes, cauliflower puree, crispy potato OR grilled springbok, miso shiitake mushrooms, coffee roast heirloom carrots, gooseberry venison jus

Desserts: baked camembert, Adams figs, thyme infused honey OR banana pavé, roasted pineapple crémeux, berry coulis

A trip to Fresh Wellness Spa is a must while staying at The Cellars Hohenort, or for an afternoon pamper before visiting for High Tea. (Now that would be a great Girls-Day-Out!) My husband had an excellent massage and said he actually fell asleep. I had a luminating, Barbor facial including a facial peel which left my skin feeling incredibly smooth and plumped. The facial peel tingled ever so slightly and I loved the feeling of something actually working on my skin. I was advised to use a mask at home over the next day or two as your skin just absorbs so much more product after a peal, maximizing your product! The head massage I received while the Barbor chemical peel worked its magic, was out of this world.. after a glass of bubbly at breakfast – I was floating on some super-happy, puffy white clouds. Find their spa menu here.

I was super impressed with Elouise at “Hair By Elouise“. Wow, this girl knows her stuff! It was like everything just fell into place and she just got me!

Hair, post incredible head massage at Fresh Wellness and before Elouise got her scissors stuck in. Very Sonic the hedgehog 🙂

After: And I’m super stoked with it! This cut is so fuss free and easy to manage – a touch of wax and I’m ready to go.

A huge thank you to both Hair By Elouise & Well Freshness for my renewed & revived hair & skin.I’ll definitely be back for another boost! What an awesome stay all together in an oasis of spoils! Do check out the whole Collection Of Hotels belonging to the Liz McGrath Collection. The Marine is also an ultimate favourite coffee spot! XX

I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date . . . high tea at the table bay hotel

Last week I had the divine opportunity to invite, a few fellow talented bloggers, to High Tea at The Table Bay Hotel as part of my Birthday Month of Celebrations.

I thought, this is my opportunity to spoil the girls, and so I organized goodie bags. (Oh how I love to organize)

Thanks to Old Khaki, Poetry, DKNY, Eye Slices, Tip Top Nails, Soy Lites and Anesi for being part of these pretty pamper packs.

The Table Bay is currently running a themed High Tea based on the Mad Hatters Tea Party. I really did feel like Alice amongst all the splendor. We were first treated to delicious savories like salmon and cream cheese samies and later delicious scones with lemon curd. Mmmm.

Then we got to savour these delicious sweets while doing a champagne tasting.(I had the lemon tart, out of this world!) Graham Beck, Krone and Taittinger where on the menu. All seriously delicious. We had a little lesson while we did the tasting that I found most fascinating. (Like the smaller the bubbles the better, that saved me the embarrassment of sending back a “flat” bottle)

We also got to learn the fine art of Sabrage, and then some of the ladies got to try it too.  All cameras where whipped out as lots of cheering began.

After a bit of an education, we got to natter and catch up while listening to the harp being played in the background. All round it was relaxed and decadent, true Table Bay Style.

Thanks to The Table Bay for hosting us! The High Tea is definitely a must, with the most incredible view of Table Mountain as you sip you tea, or champagne! x
