Our Stay At The Cellars Hohenort: Part 2

One thing that truly stood out from our stay at The Cellars Hohenort, was the decadence when it came to wining and dining! We happened to stay there over my husbands birthday and so we were surprised with birthday-bubbles and sweet treats over breakfast!

Happiness!

The salmon and avo omelette was hands down the best omelette I’ve had.I ended up ordering it 2 days in a row. Light, fluffy and creamy with the most beautiful salmon – no skimping on the filling either! The cuppa was incredibly delicious too.

A high-tea after my own heart! A Low Carb High-Tea which was delicious. From delicate, vietnamese, rice-paper rolls filled with prawns to muesli bars drizzled in dark chocolate (I could have eaten a whole tray of those!) and a light, moist carrot cake.

How darling are the little duck biscuits that come with your tea or coffee.

I’ve been dreaming of going back for this high tea again. How awesome to feast, guilt free! And then, there was more Salmon! How pretty is this plating, my starter at dinner! They are currently running a 2 or 3 course dinner special at their The Conservatory Restaurant.

Winter special: (Two course R225 / Three course R295)

Starters: sugar cured salmon trout, roasted balsamic baby beets, radishes, horseradish cream OR Ham hock terrine, red onion vinaigrette, mushroom brioche, Brussels sprouts

Mains: pan fried line fish, Asian pesto, roasted courgettes, cauliflower puree, crispy potato OR grilled springbok, miso shiitake mushrooms, coffee roast heirloom carrots, gooseberry venison jus

Desserts: baked camembert, Adams figs, thyme infused honey OR banana pavé, roasted pineapple crémeux, berry coulis

A trip to Fresh Wellness Spa is a must while staying at The Cellars Hohenort, or for an afternoon pamper before visiting for High Tea. (Now that would be a great Girls-Day-Out!) My husband had an excellent massage and said he actually fell asleep. I had a luminating, Barbor facial including a facial peel which left my skin feeling incredibly smooth and plumped. The facial peel tingled ever so slightly and I loved the feeling of something actually working on my skin. I was advised to use a mask at home over the next day or two as your skin just absorbs so much more product after a peal, maximizing your product! The head massage I received while the Barbor chemical peel worked its magic, was out of this world.. after a glass of bubbly at breakfast – I was floating on some super-happy, puffy white clouds. Find their spa menu here.

I was super impressed with Elouise at “Hair By Elouise“. Wow, this girl knows her stuff! It was like everything just fell into place and she just got me!

Hair, post incredible head massage at Fresh Wellness and before Elouise got her scissors stuck in. Very Sonic the hedgehog 🙂

After: And I’m super stoked with it! This cut is so fuss free and easy to manage – a touch of wax and I’m ready to go.

A huge thank you to both Hair By Elouise & Well Freshness for my renewed & revived hair & skin.I’ll definitely be back for another boost! What an awesome stay all together in an oasis of spoils! Do check out the whole Collection Of Hotels belonging to the Liz McGrath Collection. The Marine is also an ultimate favourite coffee spot! XX

Our Stay At The Cellars Hohenort: Part 1

Steeped in luxury and history, it was an absolute treat to spend two nights at The Cellars Hohenort! I was totally surprised by the seriously spacious room with lounge area interleading into a grand bedroom & separate bathroom with bath and shower.

(Dress & Jersey: Sitting Pretty; Nike Trainers; Superbalist )

A little highlight. Oh wow – this wine! Absolutely delicious. And that’s about as far as I can go when it comes to wine lingo – but after savouring this little mini-bar treat, I’m certainly going to look into ordering a case!

The gardens are incredible – a real fantasy for kids and adults alike!

At times I felt like I was in an Alice In Wonderland movie. Beautiful rose gardens, lush forest and manicured hedges creating beautiful walk ways.

If I was toddler-free, I certainly would have curled up with a glass of that Waterford Sauvignon Blanc in the lounge area. Perfect for a winter’s afternoon tea and buzzing at night with guests sipping on champagne and cocktails.

And what a breakfast backdrop!

A little cheers pre hair, nails and facial – if it’s luxury you want, the Cellars will provide!

Watch out for Part 2 and see what we got up to! xx

Our Stay At The Vineyard Hotel

Well, a mountain facing room at The Vineyard Hotel is a very special experience! Watching the sunrise while sipping coffee in bed, was a real treat! (Not to mention breakfast in bed!)

How beautiful is the view from our room.

I totally indulged in a local favourite every morning, Charlotte Rhys. That zesty shower gel & body lotion made for a real pamper!

The Vineyard Hotel is a fantastic stay for kids! We loved exploring the garden; chasing squirrels, looking for the big tortoise, crossing little bridges and running on the large, rolling lawns. I really enjoyed the oasis of calm you experience walking through the gardens. One is so unaware of the hustle and bustle of daily life outside of the grounds. Magic! The staff were also fantastic with Harry, offering him rides on the luggage trolleys and helping us find the tortoise!

Meeting up with some girlfriends and enjoying some bubbly, at what I call “magic hour”, has been a past time I’ve enjoyed for years. Such a treat to be back! It really is my “GO-TO” for drinks in the Southern Suburbs.

The latest edition to The Vineyard Hotel, The Long Cafe, is a great spot for a coffee date or quick bite! The coffee is excellent! Do try The Vineyard Blend. Loved the very on-trend marble counter! Every instagramers dream 🙂

Hidden in the Vineyard’s Gardens, a trip to the Angsana Spa transported me right back to my travels round Bali. I had the most incredible massage (probably one of the best I’ve had!) along with a facial and mani! I felt super relaxed and rested post treatments and the uplifting ginger tea and pawpaw snack afterwards was a refreshing, finishing touch.

The Vineyard has loads of nooks & spaces to accommodate your every need, whether you like a more private corner or like to sit back and people watch. From quieter lounges to catch up on emails to soaking up some sun by the pool, exploring with kids to entertaining clients over a fabulous buffet or a la carte breakfast, or treating yourself to a little fine dining or grabbing that much needed coffee – whatever the occasion, The Vineyard has you covered.

Highlights:

*My massage.

*A swim with Harry in the indoor pool.

*The lamb shank & glass of wine dinner special – in bed! 🙂

*Meeting up with my girlfriends in the bar/lounge for bubbles

*Coffee at The Long Cafe

*Exploring the gardens with Harry

We so look forward to going back! Those mountain views and magnificent gardens hold a special place in our hearts! xx

1 of the 4 pools. Relax round it with a cocktail or find out when their next water aerobics class is 🙂 The hotel also has a spa, and oh – a little reminder about the Mini Club should you need to drop the kids there first!

One of my favourite moments, albeit sad to leave, 5am (3am S.A. time) before catching our flight home – this very still, beautiful bay had me longing to come back.

Zilwa also has a chain of different hotels – so check them out here should you want to explore other parts of the island etc

The One & Only Le Saint Géran: Part 3

To complete the most magnificent stay at The One & Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius – a romantic dinner on the water at The Indian Pavillion is in order – (take advantage of the babysitting service if you have kids!).

Whether you want to delve into traditional Indian delights or enjoy a more modern take – there are two parts to this enticing menu. What’s even better, is we tried the Chef Faizan Special Set Menu so we could sample a little of everything – accompanied with a beautiful wine pairing – from local S.A. favourites to a delicate french rose and more – I put banting back in its box for a couple of hours 🙂

While we waited to go through the menu and order drinks – a delicious and more-ish selection of chutneys and papadums were bought to enjoy! The whole experience felt like a real treat! Just the most beautiful and romantic setting. See the full menu here.

Pitty about the bad weather in this shot – but we so enjoyed meals at La Terrase each day – a full on breakfast spread is laid out each morning (Harry went nuts for their thick, decadent slices of french toast!!) and we enjoyed a wonderful seafood buffet the one evening. Enjoy lunch around the pool or at the pool bar and bliss out under the palms.

The One and Only Le Saint Géran is geared for relaxation – you really need not lift a finger while you’re there. From a sunglasses cleaning service to unpacking your bags for you to planning excursions, the service is fantastic!

I was left with this beautiful coffee table book – again, they always went the extra mile – I shall have to attempt some of the recipes inside, but it will certainly be on my coffee table holding fond memories.
