Zilwa Attitude: Part 2
The last of my Mauritius instalments, Zilwa Attitude was a chilled way to end. But, if you’re a bokkie for sports – then Zilwa is for you! They have an incredible array of free water activities. From trips on their glass bottom boat to kayaking and more. See all their offerings here.
We were on a Full-Board bases which was great as we could enjoy their lovely light lunches round the pool with a cold beer from our mini bar or pool bar.
A delicious chicken and veg curry presented in these sweet and authentic looking little tins.
Chilling just outside our room.
1 of the 4 pools. Relax round it with a cocktail or find out when their next water aerobics class is 🙂 The hotel also has a spa, and oh – a little reminder about the Mini Club should you need to drop the kids there first!
One of my favourite moments, albeit sad to leave, 5am (3am S.A. time) before catching our flight home – this very still, beautiful bay had me longing to come back.
Zilwa also has a chain of different hotels – so check them out here should you want to explore other parts of the island etc
Zilwa Attitude: Part 1
I know you’ve hear about Mauritius to ad-nauseum – but bare with me as I tell you about this fun spot we stayed at. Zilwa Attitude is a fairly new 4 star hotel with a contemporary yet rustic, beachy look and feel.
I couldn’t get enough of this fried coconut on arrival – seriously delicious welcome treat along with a welcome drink.
This bar area as you enter the hotel is like the social hub of the hotel, over looking the 5 islands of the northern coast. Again, there is a kids club and baby sitting service if you’d like to kick your feet up for a little “me time”.
The rooms are spacious, fresh, cleverly planned out and I loved the little touches like the his & her straw hats on the bed for sun time, fruit in your room on arrival and a journal with the story of Zilwa inside. It was also great to see they have a strong eco stance too.
The view from our beachfront room. We were on the ground floor – (Which I requested due to a pram etc) but I’d imagine the views are even more spectacular from a 1st/2nd floor room.
Loved the rustic yet contemporary charm albeit it being a large resort. (214 rooms) There’s a little something for everyone at Zilwa, so pop back for Part 2 to see what else is on offer. xx
Island Style
3 dresses that carried me through my week in Mauritius!
(Dress, Poetry, Sandals, House of Cinnamon, Jersey, GAP at Stuttafords, nappy-come-travel-bag, Taylor Covington, Luggage, Samsonite.)
The classic cotton polka dot stress. Loved that it has a little stretch, is super comfy and the perfect travel come dinner-date dress (Just add heals!)
(Beach dress, Maaji (Select Maaji available at Madison Boutique & Stuttafords) , sunglasses, Alexander McQueen at Shade Station.)
The island beach cover – super lightweight for packing and quick drying with a flattering cut. Love the tropical print – something different for me that’s become a quick favourite.
The cocktail kaftan! Perfect round the pool or at the bar!
(Kaftan, Poetry, Necklace, Silver-Fig)
The One & Only Le Saint Géran: Part 3
To complete the most magnificent stay at The One & Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius – a romantic dinner on the water at The Indian Pavillion is in order – (take advantage of the babysitting service if you have kids!).
Whether you want to delve into traditional Indian delights or enjoy a more modern take – there are two parts to this enticing menu. What’s even better, is we tried the Chef Faizan Special Set Menu so we could sample a little of everything – accompanied with a beautiful wine pairing – from local S.A. favourites to a delicate french rose and more – I put banting back in its box for a couple of hours 🙂
While we waited to go through the menu and order drinks – a delicious and more-ish selection of chutneys and papadums were bought to enjoy! The whole experience felt like a real treat! Just the most beautiful and romantic setting. See the full menu here.
Pitty about the bad weather in this shot – but we so enjoyed meals at La Terrase each day – a full on breakfast spread is laid out each morning (Harry went nuts for their thick, decadent slices of french toast!!) and we enjoyed a wonderful seafood buffet the one evening. Enjoy lunch around the pool or at the pool bar and bliss out under the palms.
The One and Only Le Saint Géran is geared for relaxation – you really need not lift a finger while you’re there. From a sunglasses cleaning service to unpacking your bags for you to planning excursions, the service is fantastic!
I was left with this beautiful coffee table book – again, they always went the extra mile – I shall have to attempt some of the recipes inside, but it will certainly be on my coffee table holding fond memories.
